This video is all about how to help you get a bigger better rose bush year after year. This video is for anyone who lives in an older climate and is needing an easy to follow step by step guide on how to trim a rose bush. Here we look at the best time of year to trim your rose bushes and even includes a diagram. Be sure to find the spot and take a screenshot! This video specifically is for folks gardening in Canada, & Gardening in Northern climates. I’m personally gardening in Saskatchewan!

I’ve even included some places where you may want to screenshot for later reference when your outside.

Rose bushes love abuse so don’t be scared of clipping off to much. There is no such thing. However, if you choose to never trim the plant you may notice little to no grow tear after year.

I’ve broken this process down into some easy steps:

1) trim the grey and brittle branches down first

2) trim any inward branches away. Imagine blowing a balloon up in the Center of the bush. If it touches a branch before reaching the outer most branches its time to be snipped.

3) find the old flowers from last year & snip below the flowers and between an inner and outer facing node. We are wanting the outermost node to be the one left behind

4) after that simply remove some of the dead leaves and your finished.
