"Splash of the strait" fest in Chile's Punta Arenas: plunging into freezing waters

Five thousand people plunged into the frigid waters of the Strait of Magellan in Chile on Saturday. The “Splash of the Strait”, suspended for three years due to the pandemic, is celebrated in Punta Arenas, the southernmost city in the world, which woke up under 10 centimeters of snow. What started as a joke 15 years ago is now an international event.

The wild initiative started as a joke by six young people 15 years ago and has now become a national and international event.

El "Chapuzón del Estrecho" -el tradicional evento de la región de Magallanes- reunió a más de 5 mil asistentes durante la jornada de este sábado en Punta Arenas.
