The Expected Prophet | Sermon 11/07/2021

In Deuteronomy, the Lord promises that prophecy will continue even after Moses. Historically, we see a succession of prophets that arose after Moses through the pre-and post-exilic periods of Israel.

Beyond that, the text promises a singular Prophet who would come with the words of God in His mouth and speak to the people. The New Testament books show this final Prophet to be the Lord Jesus Christ.

John the Baptist demonstrated Christ as the Prophet, Moses and Christ appear to have similarities in this office, and like many prophets before Him, He is mighty in Word, prayer, suffering, and deeds.

Christ’s Word is all we need now. It is Christ’s Word above all other men. It is by the promises of the Prophet, Priest, and King Jesus Christ, we are saved.
