Total Overdose (PS2) Gameplay Sample

Also on the Xbox and PC, I have been meaning to play more of, and showcase Total Overdose for years. Back in the day, I probably would have thrown this up as a PS2 Underrated Gem, because it's a solid GTA style Sandbox game. Granted, I cannot comment on the overall game, because this is the furthest I have played into it as of yet. As you can see, I'm still at the beginning of the game.

As you can see, the game's sandbox design mirrors GTA's, with a lot more load times, which I edited out for this footage, but the gunplay, setting and storyline set this game apart. The controls for driving aren't quite as tight as GTA's, but they feel good enough. The fun gunplay, and strange point system are also a unique touch for this game, and it even has a humorous storyline to boot.

So far, I would say this is a solid sandbox game, that was incredibly overlooked by the general gaming populace in 2005 when it was released. This game is definitely underrated, and worth a look.

Note: I turned the music that plays during the action scenes off for this footage, but normally, the game will play music as soon as an action scene starts, and the music will end after the action which is a cool sound design choice.
