I love this game. It is still my favorite in the Jak series. The rest have grown on me a little, but I'm not a fan of the Jak-theft-auto design of the sequels. I know that was a popular trend at the time, but I like the pure platformer gameplay of the original. I know the sequels had platformer scenes, but also had a bunch of sandbox missions added for meh effect.

I guess that's why Ratchet and Clank is better remembered than Jak, because it stuck to it's roots, while adding some addictive RPG elements, while Naughty Dog whet in a different direction, trying to innovate the genre.

I love the original though. I remember being so excited to play it, and it didn't disappoint. A seamless world to explore, with the smoothness of next-gen a next-gen graphics engine. The 6th generation was the generation where the technology allowed 3D platformers to be perfected as far as I am concerned, taking all the lessons in design learned from the first generation of 3D gaming, and making smoother, larger, more in-depth games withway better camera systems in place. Too bad this genre is near extinction nowadays, but 6th gen platformers on the 2/GCN/Xbox are still arguably, the pinnacle of the genre.
