Manarola Italy, Walking Tour Via del amore - Road of Love, Liguria

In Manarola, during a walking tour, climb up the "Via del Amore" (Road of love) of a small fishing village. The most romantic and photogenic path in the Cinque Terre and Liguria.

Via del Amore * Roud of love
The Via dell'Amore is a paved road overlooking the sea that unites Riomaggiore and Manarola in just over a kilometer.
The path is very short and measures just under a km, or the 900 meters that separate Manarola from Riomaggiore passing along the cliff. After the 2012 incident it was closed to the public but a recent project promises to reopen it by the spring of 2023.
Its construction can be considered a side effect and a chance. In 1920, the works for the construction of the double track of the railway along the Genoa-La Spezia section led to the creation of this road as a deposit for the explosive material necessary for controlled explosions. At the end of the works, the inhabitants gradually began to use the path, much more comfortable and faster than the ancient mule track connecting the two villages, the Via Beccara.

Via Belvedere
Uno dei punti panoramici più belli per godersi la vista a picco sul mare e sul piccolo borgo di Manarola è via Belvedere. Si raggiunge dalla parte più bassa del paese, nei dintorni del porticciolo, da dove la strada sale fino alla piazzetta Eugenio Montale, conosciuta come il “balcone a picco sul mare”. C'è anche un parchetto con un bar.
