Hyperkin Retron 5 Quick Review

I really like the retron 5, however I do agree with the general consensus that the default controller is terrible, and so is the clone Snes controller that came with mine. If you are interested in the retron 5, make sure you buy an actual Genesis 6-button, or Snes controller if you don't already own them. When it comes to upscaling, the retron 5 does a fantastic job, especially if you are looking to upscale games for youtube, and you don't feel like paying retro tink kind of money. For me, one of the biggest selling points on the console is it's GBA and with this expansion kart Game Gear compatibility. I have 4 game gears, with broken screens, this lets me enjoy the games I own for that system again. This is also a great buy if you have limited space like I do, as you can see I am staking consoles. I know purists thumb their noses at this console, but for me the only downside is with it being an emulation box, it doesn't run every game perfectly, like the Snes version of Doom which looks even worse. Overall, I am still happy with my purchase, and still recommend the retron 5.
