Dead Island (PS3) Gameplay Sample

I still haven't quite figured out the hit box in this game, I'm not sure if it's just me, or if the hit detection is a bit wonky. As you can see, the boss ticked me off.

Dead Island is an interesting mixture of Dead Rising, and maybe something like Bioshock. It has a lot of extra loot to collect, loot that you can use to create or upgrade weapons. There is definitely an addictive elemnt to exploring and looting everything you can find.

This game got a decent amount of attention in it's day. I can't speak for the 360 or PC version, but the PS3 version doesn't seem to run it the best. Screen tearing issues, and developer designed shakiness to the game might make this footage a little nauseating to watch. This is definitely a game that is a lot better to play than to watch.

I've had this game for years, and have only just now played about an hour or more into it, and it's not bad, but certainly not the best zombie game, nor Bioshock inspired FPS game of the 7th gen. If I had to give it a number rating, I'd say a 7 would fit this game from what I have played. Maybe up that a little higher once I get to weapon creation.

I can't rate a whole game off just an hour of play, but so far I can tell this game isn't bad, and is engaging enough to keep you interested. Hit detection, and graphical issues aside, I could see myself playing all the way through this game if I had the time to play a lot of games anymore. If you overlooked this one, give it a try, you probably won't regret spending time with it.
