Metal Gear Solid 2 Was a Big Deal at the Time

Does anyone else remember how big a deal MGS2 was before it hit. I know this game isn't as fondly loved as the third because of Raiden, but I still love this game. Yes, I wasn't a fan of swapping characters mid-game, but once I got over it, I was able to still enjoy this game for what it does offer verses what it didn't, and, while not perfect, it did make some improvements over the original for the better.

The original MGS is still my favorite in the series, but I had good times with MGS2, and a lot more of a nostalgic attachment to it than even MGS3 which I didn't play till a few years after it released. I never did pick up MGS2 Substance, but I did pick up Subsistence.
