Ginger farming in Ghana

Mempeasem is a leading ginger farming community in the Oti Region and also one of the highest ginger producing communities in Ghana. Being rural, the people are bound to live and depend on agriculture as their source of livelihood. Although, they grow other seasonal cash crops, ginger farming happens to be the most popular there. After so many years of farming ginger, Mempesem and other neighbouring communities into ginger farming have no ginger market. Farmers have to sell their products to the nearest merchant, buyers or at local markets which is affecting ginger production in the area.
