Thoughts/Questions

1. I’m going to start off with, I don’t think this is the neighborly thing to do. Leaving multiple dead raccoons to rot in your yard…just seems wrong.
2. What was the thought process here? I’ve got a raccoon problem…they might have rabies…I’m going to trap them….and then just leave them in the yard to dry out.
3. “The homeowner said he usually hauls off the bodies of the animals he traps, but some were covered in ticks and feces and he left those.” Seriously.
4. In Ohio it is legal to trap a nuisance or diseased animal, but you can’t release the animal anywhere else.
5. It’s illegal to transport any animal that can contract rabies without the proper permit. What kind of permit would that be? A potential rabies transportation permit?
6. Leaving the animals to rot is a sanitation violation…well, that seems like a good thing.
7. How do you talk to your neighbor about this? Like, how does that conversation go?
8. How do you get rid of a potentially diseased, dead animal? Is there a place to take them? Some sort of diseased pet home? A pet cemetery? Is this something to Google?
