You REGRET Moving During the Pandemic Now? … Deerwood Realty and Friends…Ep. 24

I said law firm in the introduction…..and I knew it was going to happen at some point… 😉…No, Deerwood Realty is a real estate firm….please excuse the error.

Thoughts/Questions

1. So the article says that home prices were at an all time low in addition to low mortgage rates….That didn’t happen in St. Louis. The housing market was ridiculous.
2. In regretting a move, what did you regret? Is that regret based on the situation you were in? For example, did you rent and move to your first home? That’s a regret? Or, did you sell your house for a great price and then bought a house that was really expensive given the situation?
3. I saw two articles today about regretting home purchases. One of them was about a person who keeps looking at houses in the neighborhood he lives and sees people paying less for more. My question….seriously….are real estate agents not showing their buyers comparable sales data anymore?
4. Don’t Panic? You bought a house in the height of the greatest seller’s market in my lifetime. Now you want to sell…market is cooling down…and you aren’t supposed to panic? The don’t panic thing is interesting because it kind of implies you are already panicking!
5. How could this situation been avoided? It might actually come down to the agent that you are working with. Did you go with a super aggressive agent that pressured you to buy or sell? Maybe an agent that was more calm and reflective would have made a difference?
6. During the height of the market, I was telling my buyers who were looking to stay calm, and not just leap because someone else was. We were watching people waive inspection contingencies, put in ridiculous escalation clauses, and really not do good real estateing. On the other hand, sellers were going absolutely crazy with asking prices…I saw a house in south city, people had bought for 150k 3 years ago, put on new gutters and were asking 130k more. That’s pure greed.
