Sin’s Sentence

Stories are fundamentally comprised of 5 things: characters, setting, plot, conflict and resolution. The gospel story is no different. God is the central character with Jesus being front and center, elevated as the Savior. Satan is another character. And all along the way there are many mortal characters – some good, some bad. The plot is simple: sin separated mankind from God so God sent a Savior to provide a way for men to be redeemed eternally. Satan works to disrupt God’s plan. The conflict between God, who represents righteousness and Satan, who represents disobedience, is ever present in this world. That conflict is resolved in this life when we become Christians and obey God, but the conflict persists as long as we’re in this life. It’ll be ultimately resolved at Judgment when the disobedient are eternally punished and the righteous eternally rewarded.

Matthew 10:28 “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
