Wildlife conservation. Bobcat e42 Improving Illinois land! Creating a wildlife (deer) watering pond

Join me in the Bobcat e42 Mini Excavator as I create what is truly a wildlife pond, but is also often known as a deer watering hole, deer waterhole, or just plain watering hole. Conservation biology comes in many forms. This is on a client property from Curtis Rogers from Midwest Farm & Land. I truly enjoy doing this kind of land management, land improvement, wildlife conservation and wildlife habitat improvement. But the challenge for most landowners is the financial challenge vs. wildlife improvements. As an example we have about 30 acres of 'tillable' land on our Illinois farm that used to be in cash crops. Due to poor soil and an abundant deer herd, the farm rent was about half of that of other farms. So we decided to forgo the extra income and convert it all to wildlife habitat. So, on top of losing farm income, we added expenses to improve the wildlife habitat. But at least in Illinois if you have a registered conservation plan you still get a much lower tax rate. But in our situation we love and enjoy the wildlife enough that it makes it worth our while and time in the field. Projects like this wildlife pond will not only add value to your land, but will also increase wildlife photography and viewing in general and will also improve the wildlife habitat.
