Military coup in Sudan, people take to the streets of Khartoum to set fire to protest
The situation in Sudan changed abruptly on the 25th, the Office of the Prime Minister of the Transitional Government issued a statement on the 25th.
Prime Minister Hamduk was "kidnapped" from his residence in the capital Khartoum earlier in the day, and his whereabouts are unknown. Sudan's security forces also arrested several members of the Sovereign Council, as well as some over-government ministers and political leaders. Entering a state of emergency, a large number of people took to the streets to protest against the military's actions. Seven people were killed and 140 were injured in the protests. The United States demanded that the Sudanese military return power to the elected government and cut off $700 million in aid . The United Nations also strongly condemned Sudan's "military coup" and called for the quick release of the prime minister and others.
