Confederate Outlaw - The Man with One Hundred Murders | Part Two

A lifelong farmer and resident of the Cumberland Plateau—a mountainous region along the border of Kentucky and Tennessee—at the onset of the American Civil War, in 1861, Champ Ferguson was still awaiting his trial for the killing of the Fentress County Constable Jim Reed, which occurred three years prior when the constable had attempted to administer an arrest warrant for Champ’s reported horse thievery.

Now, as an irregular partisan fighter, like many other Union and Confederate men who chose not to formally enlist during the Civil War, Champ took full advantage of the conflict to settle old grudges, tracking down and killing his perceived enemies—even his friends and family members—and defending his acts of apparent self-preservation as being those of a soldier’s duty.

This is the gruesome story, of Champ Ferguson.
