At issue is Texas Governor Greg Abbott's recent "Executive Order" stating that he would employ the Texas Guard to repel what he describes as an "invasion" of people crossing the state border from Mexico. This offers us a valuable opportunity to investigate his claim that the federal government is neglecting its responsibility to "protect the border." We can look at the Constitution, see that "immigration" is a state "power," and then look deeper, as to whether the Constitution itself is a valid document that applies to us, the civilians...
