Prime Minister Justin Trudeau makes brief remarks as he visits the Japanese Embassy in Ottawa to sign the book of condolences for former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe. He is joined by Japan's ambassador to Canada Kanji Yamanouchi. Abe was assassinated July 8 in a gun attack while he was speaking at a campaign event in Nara, Japan, ahead of the country's parliamentary elections. Japan's longest-serving prime minister, Abe stepped down in 2020 for health reasons.
