If its green, I struggle with throwing it in the garbage! So, I had to cut a healthy spike off of a commercial big lip Phalaenopsis hybrid because the bloom spike had kinked due to the weight of the blooms. There are several ways to try and propagate orchids, using the dormant nodes on a spike, is one of them. In this video, I show the set up using sphagnum moss and a ziplock bag. After previous attempts failed, using a faux loofa sponge, and possibly the wrong time of year, I will try again with sphagnum moss and this time, Mid May 2020. For my hemisphere it is the start of the growing season! Thank you for watching! Have you tried this method before? Was it successful? I would love to hear from you, if you have and what you did, what your environment is. If you haven't tried this before and want to give it a go... I would also love to hear from you, just to geek out over possible successes ;))
