This is part 1 of my capture of me playing through Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins for the Game Boy. This is not an emulator. This footage was captured directly from my GameCube using my Game Boy Player with progressive scan mode enabled (you'll need the GameCube's component cables to do this and your model of GameCube must support component out as well).

I felt like recording a new playthrough of this game to improve the quality and to achieve a no-death run, so here's the new footage. I completed the entire game in a single session, but I broke the footage into parts based on each area in the game. Also, thanks to Youtube's recent upgrade, you can now watch this game at 60 frames per second.

I originally played this game shortly after it came out in 1992. One of my childhood friends lived close by and since he owned a copy of Super Mario Land 2, I got to play it occasionally. I enjoyed the game quite a bit, especially with the improved graphics that resembled Super Mario Bros. 3/Super Mario World. The first Super Mario Land looked like the original Super Mario Bros., so Super Mario Land 2 felt like an upgrade in that regard. Plus it had a save feature and an overworld map. However, it was a lot easier than the first Mario Land, but that didn't bother me as a kid.

I didn't pick up my own copy of Super Mario Land 2 until around the time that the Nintendo 64 came out, but the game was still worth picking up at that point. It would have been nice if I had the game earlier though.

In this first part I completed all of Turtle Zone, including the hidden stage.

Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and the GameCube's component cables at a native 60 frames per second. I'm using an original model Game Boy Advance as a controller by way of the Game Boy Advance/GameCube Link Cable.
