What is going on with the VPNs?

Something has been ongoing lately, where the locations of VPN users start to shift to other locations than the servers they are connected to.

As a result, some users find themselves unable to connect to Truth Social, which is - currently - taking connections only from inside the continental United States.

This is a curious event that has been happening for about a month or so now - and I have been trying to get to the bottom of it. Thus far, I have tested 3 major commercial VPNs and a private one.

This "re-tunneling" is not a VPN provider's fault - and I doubt that it's because of outdated IP databases. Something different must be going on.
