Setting Valve Lash / Adjustment on Hydraulic Lifters in a Push Rod Engine (Easy Way) | AnthonyJ350

There are different ways to adjusting/ setting valve lash. We found this technique, "The Ellison Technique" from Ellison Empire and it is by far the easiest way to set valve lash in a push rod motor with hydraulic lifters and have a great running motor.

Before our engine (freshly built engine) would take a long time for it to be able to idle on its own and it would smell like unburnt fuel, also you could hear excessive ticking from the valve cover. After performing this procedure, you will see in this video, the truck starts up immediately, the valvetrain is quiet and it doesn't take long at all for it to idle on its own. We didn't change the timing or anything, just the valve lash and it works so much better now.
