How to use Epsom salt in the garden. There are dangers with Epsom salt in the garden due to the magnesium sulfate in the Epsom salt competes directly with calcium in the soil profile. This competition results in a calcium deficiency in plants. Bloosm end rot is caused but a calcium deficiency in plants a majority of the time. So rather then alter the amount of magnesium in the soil sun to alter the Ph and therefore the bioavailability of calcium to the plant. Epsom salt is not meant for the garden
