The African Caracal is a wild cat of medium size. The body length is 61 -- 100 cm, the tail is 16 -- 46 cm, and the shoulder height is about 39 -- 55 cm. Weigh 6-11kg. The coat comes in a variety of colors, including golden brown, silver gray, SLATE gray and dark.

The fur on the cheeks and chin is white, and the limbs and inner belly are often speckled with spots, and some even have spots all over the body. The iris is green or brown, and the nose and mouth are large and prominent on the small round head. The fur behind the ears is black, and there is a tuft of black hair on the tips of the ears. The tail is half as long as the body and half as long as the head, and sometimes has a distinct dark loop above it.

They like to eat rodents, reptiles, birds and small mammals, and sometimes attack domestic animals. Gestation lasts about 75 days and each foetus gives birth to 1-2 cubs. Kittens can open their eyes in seven days and mature sexually in about two years. The maximum life span is 12 years. It lives in the tropical jungles of Africa and is found in west and Central Africa.
