Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics (Switch) - Game #5: Hit And Blow

Game #5 on our list of 51 Worldwide Classics is the first single-player game on the list: Hit And Blow. More commonly known as Mastermind, in this game you have 8 guesses to correctly guess the colors and order of a hidden randomly-generated color combination. With each guess, you're given clues about how many colors are right, and which ones are in the right place. A right color in the wrong place is marked by a white peg known as a "blow", and a right color in the right place is marked by a red peg known as a "hit". Score 4 Hits within 8 guesses to win.

Since this is a single-player game, there are no CPU opponents to take down. Instead, there are two different play modes: no duplicate colors, and with duplicate colors. Win in both modes to achieve mastery of the game. Also, each time you play it, you can unlock a piece of trivia about the game. There are three pieces of trivia about Hit And Blow:

1. Logically, it should be possible to deduce the correct answer in 5 turns.
2. There's also a version where the goal is to find a 4-digit sequence. (I remember playing this version with my middle school math teacher)
3. The chance of guessing correctly on the first try with no duplicate colors is 1 in 360. With duplicate colors, it falls to 1 in 1296.
