Knowledge of Good and Evil

If we bare the knowledge of good, via God's Word, but we don't apply it in our lives & in society, are we being useful? Are we living out God's command, found in Matthew 5:16. "So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin."?
