NFL Network’s Mike Garfolo on a Dalton Schultz contract extension: “I’m just gonna project a little bit of optimism here. Now that’s just me. Because when I talk to folks involved, they say it’s gonna be hard to do. The Cowboys like their 5-year deals. Schultz would play on the one-year tag at about $10 million but then you’ve got David Njoku at about $13 and other guys above that. So Schultz is going to want to be up there. I think within the next week, there’s gonna be more talks. I’m gonna keep open the possibility of a long-term deal for Dalton Schultz.”

The NFL Franchise Tag Extension Deadline is just days away, on July 15th. If the Cowboys and Schultz do not get a long-term deal done by then, Schultz will play the 2022 season the franchise tag.
