山棟蛇 A Tiger Keelback snake encounter, Japan

It is mid June. Rainy season has started. I went to a river in the forest to get some footage of the rushing water over man-made falls in the rain. As I was stepping across a creek that flowed into the river I looked down where I placed my foot and saw what looked like a baby mamushi go right by my shoe. I let it pass and go off into the rocks before moving on down the side of the river, keeping my eyes open for other snakes. I did see a few frogs hopping along before me. After taking my pics and vids I wanted I started to move back up the riverside trail to where I crossed the creek earlier. Before I got to that location I saw a frog hop from the bushes to the river's edge and then a snake following fast behind it. The frog then jumped into the river escaping its encounter with the snake. The snake, the tiger keelback in the video, just stopped motionless at the riverside. Waiting, watching. I was waiting and watching as well. Well, it wasn't moving and I wanted to leave so I started recording it as I moved it along, gently prodding it before me until it left my path. I then crossed the creek I had crossed earlier while keeping an eye open for other snakes. After crossing I looked back to that rocky area with shrubs and saw a baby snake, perhaps the same one from before, going up the rocky mound and into the leaves. Unfortunately I wasn't videoing at the time. I decided there were too many snakes in that area and I should leave.
