The mudskipper is a small, warm-water inshore groundfish. Mudskippers have the habit of digging holes for habitat, with at least two orifices: one is the main orifice, which is the main channel of entry and exit; the other is the back orifice, which is the branch channel of entry and exit. The orifice is "maiden" shaped and can also be used as a spawning chamber. In winter, when the water temperature is below 14℃, they hide in caves to overwinter. In good weather with the sun, they will come out to feed even in winter. When the water temperature is below 10℃, they will live deep in the bottom cave and stay dormant to keep warm over winter.
