When the pandemic happened, Silverback Distillery in Afton, VA adapted their business almost immediately to start producing hand sanitizer for hospitals, schools, law enforcement, emergency workers, and anyone who needed it in the shortage. They jumped through FDA hurdles and handed profit over to ABC authorities. Their small business will have lasting effects from their decision to cease normal operation and produce hand sanitizer instead of spirits, but they are just one example of many where people in America came together to solve problems in a time of crisis.
