When Anger Moves God's People - Part 2 - Pastor Jason Henderson

Introduction:

Anger Defined: Anger is a strong feeling of displeasure aroused by a real or supposed wrong.

Anger is a very strong emotion. When allowed to continue to go unchecked, anger can destroy a person and others.

ANGER IS THAT EMOTION THAT MUST HAVE A BRIDLE AND A SADDLE TO MAKE IT EFFECTIVE.

ANGER without DISCERNMENT is DEVASTATION.

Genesis 32

Moses’ Anger Had The Right Motivation

He saw through God’s eyes the horrible sin.

Moses’ Anger Had The Right Relationship With God

He had just spent 40 continuous days with the Lord

Moses’ Anger Was Constructive Not Destructive

He had to show them what they are doing

Moses’ Anger Was In A Right Attitude

He was not motivated out of hate for his people, but love for his people.

WHY WAS THIS SIN SO BAD?

All sin put Jesus on the cross, but not all sin has the same consequences.

It was a horrible sin because of who committed the sin.

When you considered everything God had done and showed the people of Israel

They were chosen by God’s grace.

They delivered by God’s power.

They were fed by God’s goodness.

They were given an inheritance by God’s generosity.

It was a horrible sin because of where they had sinned.

They were in essence in the presence of God.

Exodus 19:18-21

It was a horrible sin because of how they sinned

Psalm 106:19-22

It was a horrible sin because of why they sinned.

It was their unbelief and lack of patience

When God doesn’t work in our timing, we are masters of taking situations into our own hands.

The results are always the same…we make matters worse.

At the first sign of trouble, they ran.

Aaron proved to be a weaker leader because he caved to the demands of the people.

Exodus 32:21-24

When you continue to look back, you will allow yourself to miss the joy and happiness of today and tomorrow.

Application

The Israelites were focused on what was easy and enjoyable.

Moses was focused on doing right no matter the cost.

Aaron was focused on pleasing the majority, masses and what is popular.

NOTE:

It seems like God and Moses are mean and hurtful people. Satan has a way of twisting the words and intentions of the Lord.

“Without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sin.” Sacrifice always satisfies sin.

Sin always has a price. Repentant people found mercy and grace from the Lord. Rebellious people

This is why Jesus was so important. His sacrifice on the cross satisfies all of our sin. Past, present, and future.
