Congressman Louie Gohmert (TX01) offered an amendment in the House Judiciary Committee Markup on H.R. 7120, the "Justice in Policing Act of 2020." His amendment would change the Emmett Till bill that is included in H.R. 7120 to make lynching punishable up to life in prison. As the bill currently stands, it would be punishable with a 10 year maximum. He said, "Let's get serious...join me in putting a serious legacy onto the name of Emmett Till."
