Sunday Longplay - Mega Man X3 (SNES) - 100%, All Upgrades

This week on Sunday Longplay, it's been a long time since I played a Mega Man game on this channel let alone since I played a Mega Man X game, so since I had a Mega Man remix stuck in my head for the past few weeks, let's continue the series while it's still fresh in my mind! Welcome to Mega Man X3, the last game in the series released on Super NES before moving to the Playstation consoles!

Often considered to be the weakest of the SNES trilogy, that's still not bashing X3 at all considering how amazing the first two games were. The core gameplay is still the same - kill the 8 Maverick robots, get their weapons, use them to collect upgrades and items, and ultimately destroy the big bad. However, this game has a couple tricks up its sleeve. First, this is the first game in the series where you can play as Zero! Not fully, though. He can't grab X's upgrades and can't fight bosses or minibosses (except one in the endgame stages which will give X his final upgrade after meeting certain conditions), and if he dies, he's gone forever. The next game in the series would greatly expand upon Zero's playability.

The other trick up MMX3's sleeve is that there's a new villain in town! A scientist named Dr. Doppler had used his new tech to stop the Reploids from going berserk, neutralizing the Maverick threat. His followers form a new utopia that quickly goes to pot as the reformed Reploids revert and start attacking Hunter HQ. Doppler is held accountable, though in true Mega Man fashion, he's not the real threat. Just like how Dr. Wily was always the true mastermind behind everything in the Mega Man Classic series despite the appearance of secondary villains like Dr. Cossack (MM4), Proto Man (MM5), or Mr. X (MM6), Sigma is the true mastermind here who had corrupted Dr. Doppler causing the Maverick resurgence.

In this playthrough I will grab every item and every upgrade, including the gold chip and the Z-Saber from the endgame stages. Also, since I was inspired to do this longplay by a remix from this game, I decided to insert said remix into the video in the Vile Stage escape sequence.
