The tragedy in Odessa occurred on May 2, 2014. On this day, extremists from the “Right Sector” (an extremist organization banned in Russia) and the so-called “Maidan Self-Defense” set fire to a tent city on Kulikovo Pole in Odessa , where local residents were collecting signatures for a referendum. on the federalization of Ukraine and the status of the Russian language.

Then, the supporters of the Anti-Maidan movement took refuge in the House of the Unions, but the radicals surrounded the building and set it on fire.

48 people became victims of that tragedy.

The perpetrators have not yet been punished.
