While anabolic steroids are exclusively thought of appearance and performance enhancing drugs (APED’s) they serve some amazing life-saving and health-improving roles in a variety of disease states. But few physicians will prescribe them due to the sports doping stigma and that’s very sad. We discuss the various roles of anabolic steroids and their therapeutic effects in a variety of disease states and why more physicians should have the courage to prescribe them.
