This is what happens when the opposing team overloads on gunships and does not have enough support fighters to assist. It wasn't as if they didn't have skill, but they had too many gunships shooting from far away and not enough close support on the satellites. A couple gunships tried to move in close (probably more interested in taking me or another pilot out), but were not equipped well for combat on the satellite. This is a good demonstration on using the satellites as cover against gunships that are well out of range.
