Fiercest battle for Slavyansk currently underway, DPR military official says

The forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) are currently engaged in intense fighting with the Ukrainian side for the city of Slavyansk, Deputy Head of the DPR's People's Militia Eduard Basurin reported on Friday.

"This is the north of our republic, the vicinity of #Slavyansk," he told Channel One responding to a question as to where the fiercest fighting on the part of the DPR is conducted.

As for the neighboring Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), "this is the vicinity of #severodonetsk and #Lisichansk ," he added. "The most intense fighting is there," the military official noted.

Earlier today, the headquarters of the DPR’s territorial defense reported that the republic’s People’s Militia and the Russian army were advancing towards Slavyansk. As of June 10, the DPR, the LPR and Russia’s armed forces liberated and established complete control over 235 populated localities including Tripolye, Vladimirovka, Stavki and Lipovoye.
