Dashcam footage shows moments before deadly crash between NCPD officer, female driver

Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O'Neal has released the identity of the woman who died in a collision with a North Charleston Police officer on Tuesday.

Raudnesia Waring, 24, of North Charleston, died at the intersection of Dorchester Road and Scarsdale Avenue while she was attempting to turn onto Dorchester Road, officials say. Waring's car collided with a cruiser driven by Officer Jeremy Kraft.

The collision took place at around 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday while Kraft was responding to a shooting in the 5200 block of West Montague Avenue, police say.

North Charleston Police Chief Reggie Burgess says Kraft had his lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.

Chief Burgess says it hasn't been determined if the officer will be placed on administrative leave while the investigation is underway.

On Wednesday, Burgess released a recorded statement saying he is in communication with the Waring family. He also apologized on behalf of the police department.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Waring and Wright family."

NCPD also released dashcam footage from Kraft's cruiser that shows what the officer saw leading up to the deadly collision.

The footage appears to show Kraft traveling through a red light, at which time Waring attempts to turn left onto Dorchester Road.

The Smith-McNeal Funeral Home announced funeral arrangements are pending for Raudnesia Waring.
