🇨🇳 🇷🇺 Russian-founded commercial port city in China - Dalian, or Dalniy (Дальний - "remote"). The Pavlov Agreement (1898) with China granted Russia a 25-year lease on Dalian and the exclusive right to build a branch of the Chinese Eastern Railway. Russia spent more than 10 million golden rubles building the new port city, which became its main trade hub in Asia.

It passed to Japanese control in the Russo-Japanese war of 1905, and returned to the Soviets in 1945 when Japan surrendered in WWII. The Soviets left in 1955, gifting the city to the CCP without compensation. It retains a lot of its original Russian architecture.

A century later, it is China that is building the Belt and Road initiative globally and is certainly miles ahead of Russia economically. I would argue, the biggest winner, if there is one in the current conflict, is China.
