Mobile hotspot not showing...

DISCONNECT FROM CURRENT NETWORK!!!

Then toggle back and forth until it shows up.

(Make sure network is toggled to on position on the page that shows "Device list".)

ALSO, make sure mobile data is on.

(If available wi-fi signal is strong, you might be switched to wi-fi automatically.)

Uncheck "Connect automatically when this network is in range"

Right-click network name./Click "Properties"/Click "connection" tab...

"Windows was unable to connect to HUAWEI nova 2i"

RESTART...

Still won't connect...

Click on Wi-Fi icon.

Click on "Open Network and Sharing Center"

Click on "Manage wireless networks"

Click on "Networks you can view, modify, and reorder" (you can click on "+" to show ALL networks)

(HUAWEI NOVA 2i appears at the bottom of the screen.)

Click on "Remove" in gray strip above "Networks you can view..."

Go back to Wi-Fi icon.

Tried changing password.

Tried changing Encryption type: from WPA2 PSK to None

Advanced Settings: Max connections allowed... changed from 8 to 1

I didn't remove the sim card and turn the mobile off and on.

Nor did I turn off the mobile data.

CONNECTED!!!

Reset Network Settings on the HUAWEI.

Removed and manually entered HUAWEI network on laptop.

Rebooted BOTH devices.

Auto connect to HUAWEI, not cruddy hostel network.

(And Airplane moded on & off for good measure...but didn't reboot again.)

Why this episode?

I can't recall if it was a joke or just a general sentiment I stumbled across, but apparently, the Cuban attribute of respecting elders seems to strike other latin groups as absurd or humorous.

Maybe it's just respecting FEMALE elders that strikes them as amusing. - If I recall correctly, I believe they DID specify "Abuelita".

So...if displaying respect for your own society is a particularly Cuban attribute...
