Female Athletes Speak on Transgender Activism in Women’s Sports

Before Title IX, much of Women’s sports and other extracurricular activities received lackluster support and funding within federally financed institutions. However, since its passage in 1972, Title IX has safeguarded single-sex athletic competitions for female athletes across the nation. However, debates over gender identity in schools has caused some to cast doubt over the persistence of Title IX’s original intentions. With the Biden administration’s proposed changes to the statute, the future of women’s sports appears to be in jeopardy.

Female athletes from around the country gathered in Washington D.C. last week on the 50th anniversary of Title IX during the “Our Bodies, Our Sports” rally to make their case for the preservation of single-sex athletic competitions.

Daily Signal reporter Douglas Blair spoke with many of the participants to understand what it is like to compete against transgender, biological male althetes.
