Visa problems remain. I was told that Immigration would contact me, but it's been nearly two months since they seized my passport. I need to get home to my wife in Philippines. This problem has really left a bad taste for Vietnam. I wouldn't want to come back here to invest or retire for any reason. They are still just too screwed up. They change policies with no regard for the effect it will have on people. Just like this visa problem caused by a change in the definition of a Business visa in May of 2021. The pandemic was ongoing and air travel was limited or ridiculously expensive. I decided to overstay on purpose because of my age and risk level. Paying an overstay would be preferable to Covid. I never got a chance to pay an overstay. Immigration decided they wanted 3,800 USD to solve my problem that they created. No paperwork of course.

No direct contact, only through an agent and no certainty about future problems arising. I always have followed the rules, never had a visa problem in 9 years of vietnam visits and stays, Now they change the rules in the middle of a pandemic. What a great bunch they are.
