Shocking footage of the worst flooding in Sydney's history.

Thousands of people have been ordered to leave their homes due to torrential rains and flash floods in Australia's largest city Sydney.

Roads have been closed, 18 evacuation orders have been issued in western Sydney alone, and there are warnings that there will be more.

"This is a life—threatening emergency," said Stephanie Cook, the NSW Minister for Emergency Management.

The Bureau of Meteorology reported that up to 350 mm of precipitation fell in some areas, which could lead to flooding of the Nepean River.
