Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics (Switch) - Game #38: Toy Curling

Game #38 on our list of 51 Worldwide Classics is the third of the five toy sports, Toy Curling! In this game, players hurl stones on an icy field to get as close to the center as possible. The strategy comes into play where you can either decide to get your stone closer to the center than your opponent or simply just knock your opponent's stone away so you can have the top spot. At the end of a set number of turns (in this case 10), whoever has one of their stones closer to the center circle wins.

There are four levels of CPU opponents to face in this game: Normal, Hard, Amazing, and Impossible, which all must be beaten in order. Beat the Impossible CPU to master the game. Also, each time you play it, you can unlock a piece of trivia about the game. There are four pieces of trivia about Toy Curling:

1. The strategic nature of this game has led some fans to call it "Chess on Ice".
2. Curling is sometimes referred to as the "Roarin' Game", based on the sound the stone makes as it crosses the ice.
3. A single curling stone weighs about 20 kilograms, which is 44 pounds!
4. In real-life curling, teams use brushes to work the ice in the path of stones that have been thrown. This can make it either easier or harder for stones to slide.
