Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics (Switch) - Game #42: Slot Cars

Game #42 on our list of 51 Worldwide Classics is a toy racing game a la Hot Wheels, Slot Cars! In this game, two players hold the throttle to race their slot car around the track, but they must be careful not to go too fast around corners lest they spin out! There is no turning required, as the cars will always follow the line, so just hold the gas and let go around corners. The first player to get their slot car 6 laps around the track wins. There are three tracks in this game, and you can choose to either race one at a time or all at once.

There are four levels of CPU opponents to face in this game: Normal, Hard, Amazing, and Impossible, which all must be beaten in order. Beat the Impossible CPU to master the game. Also, the game keeps track of your record times on each track, and each time you play it, you can unlock a piece of trivia about the game. There are three pieces of trivia about Slot Cars:

1. Slot cars were born in England.
2. They're called "slot cars" after the slot on the course that the cars are locked into.
3. In real-life courses, a remote control is connected to the strips. You adjust the speed of the cars by regulating the voltage.

Personal story: I remember as a kid building a Hot Wheels track with my cousins around their house. It was a blast! Also, who could forget Slot Car Derby from the first Mario Party game?
