Alexs Thompson left the US Navy to study religion. Following the 9/11 attacks in the USA, Alexs narrowed his focus to Islam, studying under Imams in Egypt and Yemen where he lived as a fundamentalist muslim. Alexs subsequently deployed to the Middle East as a counter insurgency adviser to the US military.
