1) Letter penned for Governor Newsom about the lack of involvement of County Administrators in the new CARE Court. The State is ignoring Butte County.. Butte County will be responsible for administration of this COURT. People who are running this should have a say.

THANK YOU DIRECTOR PICKETT FOR PENNING THIS LETTER! THIS CARE COURT IS DANGEROUS. WE FEARED THE STATE WOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS BRAND NEW IDEA THAT IS INTENDED TO FORCE DRUG ADDICTS AND CHRONICALLY ILL PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT GOTTEN TREATMENT INTO TREATMENT BY FORCE. BUT THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS. AND NOW THE DEVIL IS LOCKING THE COUNTY OUT OF THE DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE DETAILS. THIS SHOULD BE WATCHED CLOSELY.

2) SB154 State Budget. Norm is now for the State to pass a FRAMEWORK by the June 15th Constitutionally required date to have a budget approved. $300B SPENDING PLAN. $38B VARIETY OF RESERVES. LEGISLATURE WILL BEGIN BATTLING THE OPEN ISSUES AND CONCLUDE END OF AUGUST. THESE ISSUES ARE: TAX RELIEF, CASH ASSISTANCE, HOMELESS, HOUSING, CLIMATE CHANGE INVESTMENTS, AND HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES. END OF AUGUST ISSUES SHOULD BE RESOLVED.

"FRAMEWORK". The state has now decided the intent of the mandated June 15th Budget deadline in our Constitution ONLY meant a framework. The details be damned. This should be ienough for the people. WOW. WAY TO GO CALIFORNIA!
