Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics (Switch) - Game #49: Mahjong Solitaire - Beginner Stages

Game #49 on our list of 51 Worldwide Classics is the first of the three Solitaire games in the collection, Mahjong Solitaire! In this game, mahjong tiles are arranged into a shape, and the goal is to dismantle the shape piece by piece by removing matching tiles. However, you can only remove tiles on the outside, not ones enclosed on both sides by other tiles and obviously not ones underneath other tiles.

There are 60 stages in this game (20 Beginner stages, 20 Standard, and 20 Advanced). You only have to beat one stage from each difficulty to master the game, but because I'm a completionist, I'm going through all 60! So this game will be split into three parts, one for each difficulty. Also, the game keeps track of how many stars you've gotten across all 60 stages (maximum 180 total), and each time you play it, you can unlock a piece of trivia about the game. There are two pieces of trivia about Mahjong Solitaire:

1. It's called Mahjong Solitaire because you use mahjong tiles to play a solo game. Pretty self-explanatory, now that we think about it.
2. In Europe, this is the game most people think of when they hear "mahjong."

Personal story: I remember owning an old CD-ROM game called "Shanghai 2: Dragon's Eye", that had a similar premise to this game, and also included a 2-player Vs. version.
