I. The Nature of our Battle - 1 Peter 5:8
A. Satan is our Adversary
1. Deception is his modus operandi - 2 Corinthians 11:14
2. Deceiving even those who may think they are saved - Matthew 24:24
a. We must be vigilant against all his deceptions
b. Aware that he often presents himself as an angel of light
B. Peripatetic Satan walks throughout the whole earth - Job 1:6-7
1. He sees the saints and accuses them before the throne of God - Job 1:8-11; 2:2-5
2. He snatches away the seed of God’s Word from the hard hearted - Matthew 13:4, 19
C. Why & when does the lion roar?
1. Most often at dawn when the darkness succumbs to the light
2. The roar is a territorial declaration, the male claiming his mating rights over his pride - Ephesians 2:2
3. The roar also gauges the strength of the opposition
4. Fear not
D. What does it mean that Satan devours?
1. To steal, to kill and to destroy - John 10:10
2. To take spiritual captives - 2 Timothy 2:24-26

II. Resisting the Dragon - 1 Peter 5:9
A. The steps of resistance - James 4:7-8
1. Submit your entire self, your whole life to the Lord
2. Steadfast in the Faith being rooted and grounded in the Word of God
B. Knowing we are not alone in this spiritual battle
