Underground Newcastle was a compilation album released by Sonic Blue
Records in 1992 it featured the north east of england's best new and upcoming
bands. The bands at this time in the whole of the UK were the primordial soup
of what would become Britpop, it is a time period between the Stone Roses,
Acid House and onto Oasis and Blur a natural phenomenon that arises in
youth culture when music begins moving in a different direction. So while
grunge had become mainstream then new young bands in the UK were
finding their inspiration from where it all came from "the 1960's", all of
these new bands were far more psychedelic than the britpop bands that came
after which were more mid sixties in style.

Ozric Tentacles, Ride, Revolver, Stone Roses, Oasis, Blur, Madchester, Baggy,
The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Brian Jonestown Massacre.
